ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 28 (UPI) -- An 80-year-old British man said Virgin Atlantic workers recovered a prized ring he lost down the bathroom sink drain during a flight to Florida.

Terri Capon said he flew from Britain to Orlando with his wife, Olive, Wednesday to visit their son, Gary, and during the flight his treasured ring fell off while he was washing his hands in the lavatory, cable network News 13, Orlando, reported Friday.

"Hands down, and it just slips right off, down the pan," Terri Capon said.

He said he purchased the gold ring with a one-carat diamond as "a keepsake sort of thing" when his wife's father died and left the couple some money.

The Capons said they were relieved to receive a phone call Wednesday night from Virgin workers saying they had recovered the ring.

"To get that phone call from Virgin last night to say they found it was absolutely amazing," Terri Capon said.

Capon said he will keep his ring in his pocket if he needs to wash his hands during his return flight to Britain in a couple of weeks.
