CHICAGO, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- Ranch owner John Basile walked into a Chicago suburb bar with a Siberian tiger on a leash.

Basile, 57, is the owner of a Big Run Wolf Ranch, a non-profit ranch for large animals such as bears and wolves. He most recently acquired a Siberian tiger cub named Shere Khan. He and the tiger walked into Uncle Richie's Bar like nothing was wrong. Police had suspected he might be intoxicated.

This is not the first time that Basile had been in the bar with a tiger. A few months prior, he had been in the bar with a tiger and it even bit a woman. The woman chose not to report it. Basile is an experienced animal handler and was only charged with misdemeanors.

After 32 years in law enforcement, I thought I had seen and heard everything," said Police Chief Terry Lemming. "Taking a tiger for a walk downtown on a wintry day."
