Comedy festival to feature sunglasses record attempt

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Organizers of the Gilda's LaughFest comedy festival in Michigan said the event will feature a world-record attempt for wearing sunglasses in the dark.

The organizers of the comedy festival, founded by Gilda's Club Grand Rapids, said pre-kickoff activities March 6 will include distribution of free LaughFest sunglasses for the first 2,500 participants. Those visitors, as well as those who bring their own shades, will attempt the Guinness World Record at 7:15 p.m.

The current record for wearing sunglasses in the dark was set by 1,642 people at Chicago's Wrigley Field in July 2013.

The record attempt will be followed be a free opening night preview comedy show at the Pyramid Scheme club, which will include some of the comedians set to perform during the 10-day festival.
