MOUNT DORA, Fla., Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Police in Florida said an alleged burglary spree ended when the suspect fell asleep clutching a kitchen knife on a woman's couch.

Investigators said Duane Immich, 26, allegedly burglarized several businesses before he broke into Judith Smolinski's home in Mount Dora and fell asleep on her couch while holding one of her kitchen knives, WFTV, Orlando, Fla., reported Wednesday.

I was in my kitchen going to make coffee and I heard snoring," Smolinski said. "I walked in the living room and there was a strange man on my couch curled up, covered up with my blanket."

She said the alleged burglar took beer from her fridge.

"He had one open beer on my coffee table," Smolinski said.

Police said Immich was linked to three other burglaries and a car break-in in the area.

Immich, who was woken up by police, was arrested and held without bond. He has previous arrests for charges including grand theft, drug possession and aggravated assault, police said.
