Sean Rossall, a spokesman for the future New Wilshire Grand high rise, said the "grand pour" of concrete began at 4 p.m. Saturday and continued for 20 hours, besting the foundation for the Venetian hotel and casino in Las Vegas' world record for largest uninterrupted pour of slurry, the Los Angeles Times reported Monday.
The feat, resulting in 21,200 cubic yards of concrete, was verified by Guinness World Records officials, Rossall said.
The New Wilshire Grand is planned to reach 1,100 feet, making it the tallest structure west of the Mississippi River.
