School lifts yoga pants ban after one day of enforcement

ROCKPORT, Mass., Feb. 12 (UPI) -- A Massachusetts school said it has lifted a ban on yoga pants after one day of enforcement while officials revisit the dress code.

Principal Philip Conrad of Rockport Middle/High School announced last week the school would enforce its dress code ban on tight-fitting leggings and yoga pants in accordance with the student handbook, but the decision was reversed after several girls were made to change their clothes Friday, WBZ-TV, Boston, reported Wednesday.

Rockport Superintendent of Schools Robert Liebow said the ban will not be enforced while a committee is convened to review the dress code.

"This is the prudent approach to have everyone weigh in on what should be acceptable dress for school," Liebow said.
