SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Smartphones loaded with discontinued game "Flappy Bird" are being listed on California auction site eBay for prices of up to $5 million.

An iPhone 5 featuring the game, which was removed from app stores during the weekend by developer Dong Nguyen for undisclosed reasons, was listed by a Swedish seller with a starting price of $350,000 and a Buy It Now price of $5 million, the Los Angeles Times reported Monday.

The game, which instructs players to tap on their screens to guide a bird between pipes, was making $50,000 per day for its developer before it was removed, Nguyen said.

Other devices with the game installed are being sold with starting prices of up to $99,000 and as low as $0.01 with a Buy It Now price of $500.

The Times said an iPhone with 74 bids reached $99,900 Monday, but it was removed from the site before the scheduled end of the auction and the bids may have been artificially inflated.
