SEATTLE, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- University of Washington football head coach Chris Petersen announced on Thursday that projected starting quarterback Cyler Miles and freshman wide receiver Damore'ea Stringfellow have been suspended indefinitely for violating team rules.

Seattle Police are investigating an alleged assault near campus on Sunday during a post-Super Bowl altercation that reportedly involved Miles and Stringfellow and a Seahawks fan. No arrests have been made with regard to the incident.

A police report said that two suspects jumped out of a car and asked a man if he was a Seahawks fan. He then said “something like, ‘Yeah of course, are you Broncos fans?’”

According to the report, the two suspects “came at” the man and “started punching (him) in the face.” The victim identified the players by looking at the UW football roster online. The suspects were described as wearing Broncos gear.

Miles started one game last year and led UW to a 69-27 victory at Oregon State.

Petersen didn’t give details about why the players were suspended.

The players also allegedly were involved in an incident where they tried to destroy the camera of another UW student who had pictures of them fighting in a separate “scuffle."
