ASTANA, Kazakhstan, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- A Kazakhstan court ordered a woman to repay the $6,500 she found in a pair of boots she was given as a gift.
The court in Zhetikara heard the plaintiff, a 47-year-old city resident, forgot she had stashed the cash in the boots when she gave them to a friend as a gift for the friend's daughter-in-law, RIA Novosti reported Wednesday.
The friend and her daughter-in-law found the money and spent it, mostly on paying off debts, the court heard.
Ng.kz reported the local police declined to prosecute the women, but the woman who gave the boots to her friend successfully sued the other two.
The two women were ordered to repay the money they spent.
