EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Feb. 4 (UPI) -- Boxer Floyd Mayweather, who was rumored to have lost $10 million on a Super Bowl bet, said he did not wager on the game, but if he had he would have won.

Mayweather posted to his Twitter and Instagram pages Sunday night, during the closing moments of the game, to dispel online rumors he had placed a $10 million bet and was about to lose, Mlive.com reported Tuesday.

"Somebody lied to you all," Mayweather tweeted. "If I was going to bet, I would have bet on the Seattle Seahawks. I'm the best defensive fighter, it's only right to go with the best defensive team."

Mayweather's Instagram post said $10 million would have been too steep a bet for the Super Bowl.

"I did NOT bet $10 million on the Broncos. As a matter of fact, I didn't bet at all. I can't control what rumors that are put out there... The only thing I would bet $10 million on is myself," he posted.
