OLD SHOTTON, England, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- A man who pleaded guilty in a British court to obstructing a police officer had drunkenly mistaken the officer for a stripper, police said.

Paul Harbord, 27, of Peterlee, England, had been drinking all day with friends at a pub in Old Shotton and had been told to expect "entertainment" shortly before a female officer arrived to investigate reports of "rowdy" behavior at the bar, the Mirror reported Thursday.

"Look, here is one of the strippers!" Harbord allegedly said upon seeing the female officer.

Harbord danced around the officer and flicked her with a bar towel before being placed under arrest, police said.

He did not believe she was a real police officer until she took him to the station for processing, police said.

Harbord pleaded guilty to obstructing an officer and was sentenced to six months of probation.
