Lloyd Forman, the Fraser Valley Regional District's director for the town of Boston Bar, said the district's board gave approval Tuesday night for staff to start searching for buyers willing to take on the homes for $1 each, he Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Thursday. Advertisement "We're trying to find a way to save these houses," Forman said. "We finally came up with a plan that if we could offer the house and the lot for a dollar, it might be worthwhile for someone to purchase it. And the only stipulation we have is that the exterior retains the heritage value it has. The interiors can be restored to whatever comfort value they wish." Forman said both homes both need a lot of work. "They're fairly rough. The roofs are starting to leak some," Forman said. "But the only thing is they're constructed of first-growth fir, very clear, very good wood." "The consensus is they would be rebuildable," he said. Advertisement The houses are the only two remaining of the eight homes built at the start of the 20th century for employees of the Canadian Pacific Railway, Forman said.
