YEKATERINBURG, Russia, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Authorities in Russia said a former teacher allegedly stabbed another man to death while arguing about the merits of prose versus poetry.

The Sverdlovsk Region's branch of the Investigative Committee said the 53-year-old former teacher was engaged in a drunken argument with the 67-year-old victim, who evidently enraged the suspect by asserting, "the only real literature is prose," RIA Novosti reported Wednesday.

The suspect allegedly stabbed and killed the other man in defense of poetry.

The Investigative Committee said the suspect fled the scene of last week's slaying and was arrested days later.

The suspect, whose name was not released, faces a murder charge and could be sent to prison for as long as 15 years if convicted.
