HOLLY, N.J., Jan. 27 (UPI) -- The same judge who sentenced Ed Forchion to nine months in Burlington County Jail in New Jersey for marijuana possession also lets him fly to California for 10 days each month to smoke marijuana. Forchion -- who tried to legally change his name to NJWeedman.com -- is a cancer patient legally cleared to receive medical marijuana in California. Advertisement Even though New Jersey has passed laws legalizing medical marijuana since Forchion was caught with a pound of pot in his trunk in 2010, he still has to go to California to receive his medicine. Colorado and Washington have completely legalized marijuana for recreational purposes and 14 other states have decriminalized it. “I’m going back to Burlington County Jail,” Forchion said during an interview with The Trentonian while he was on medical furlough. “It’s boring. I just sit there in jail with a whole bunch of people who are wasting their lives. Boring. That’s the number one thing. And it doesn’t do one thing. What am I being corrected on? The state already legalized medical marijuana. I’m a medical marijuana patient. This is punishment for being outspoken and right.” Advertisement He is certainly passionate about pot. According to Forchion’s website: “In the late 90's I started going to the Liberty Bell on Independence Mall in Philadelphia (The birth place of America) to protest the marijuana laws by openly smoking. These acts of civil disobedience became legendary in the Philadelphia/South Jersey Area.” On his website, Forchion indicates that he will be done serving his sentence at the end of February.
