Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe AUBURN, Wash., Jan. 15 (UPI) -- The Washington State Patrol said troopers arrested a man accused of carjacking a truck that had already run out of gas. Troopers said the truck ran out of gas along state Route 18 in Auburn and the owner was napping in the driver's seat about 4:30 a.m. Monday while waiting for family members to help when the 22-year-old suspect, whose name was not released, knocked on the window, Seattlepi.com reported Wednesday. Advertisement The suspect allegedly told the owner he would be shot if he did not surrender the vehicle, and the owner complied with the demand. The owner fled to call police and the suspect attempted to drive away, but only made it about 50 yards before sputtering to a stop due to the empty gas tank. Troopers found the suspect walking along the highway and he was taken to the King County Jail on suspicion of robbery and vehicle theft. No weapon was recovered. Police said the suspect had been released from jail at 7:30 p.m. Sunday after being arrested on an outstanding warrant.
