Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe RICHMOND, British Columbia, Jan. 15 (UPI) -- Employees at a cellphone store in a Vancouver, British Columbia-area mall were startled Tuesday to find a python coiled around their microwave in a back room. Val Lofvendahl of the Reptile, Rescue, and Adoption and Education Society said when she arrived at the Wind Mobile store the entire staff was out in the mall corridor, the Richmond Times reported. The store is in the Lansdowne Center in Richmond, British Columbia. Advertisement Staffers directed her to the rear storeroom. "They looked terrified," she said. "They said he was discovered wrapped around the microwave, probably seeking some warmth. When I got to him, he was sitting on top of a box." The snake was about 2 feet long. Lofvendahl said he was a ball python, probably about 2 years old. One mystery is where the snake came from. Jason Roberts, the mall manager, said there are no pet stores in Lansdowne Center and the nearest houses are too far away for an escaped snake to have made it on its own in the Canadian winter. Lofvendahl said someone probably dumped the snake at the mall. She said the animal is in generally good condition although suffering from dehydration. Advertisement She has named the python Wind after the store and plans to hold it for a month or so before putting it up for adoption. "He is a really nice snake, very docile," Lofvendahl said.
