Police said the man was driven Friday from Karlshamn to Morrum and when he arrived at his destination he discovered he was not carrying any cash, TheLocal.se reported Tuesday.
The customer asked the driver if he could go home and get his debit card and the driver said he wanted to keep the man's kebab meal as collateral, police said.
The man attempted to negotiate further, but the driver eventually drove off with the man's food.
Police said the man initially reported the driver for theft, but changed his mind and dropped the charges, saying he understood the cabbie's actions.
