John Kerry presents Russian counterpart with Idaho potatoes

PARIS, Jan. 14 (UPI) -- U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry presented Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov with a pair of giant potatoes during a meeting in Paris.

Kerry, who spent part of his Christmas holiday with his family vacationing in Idaho, said Lavrov had previously mentioned the fame of Idaho potatoes so he brought a pair of large potatoes to the Monday meeting in Paris, ABC News reported Wednesday.

Lavrov called the potatoes "impressive."

Kerry joked Lavrov will probably not be making vodka from the potatoes as he is not a fan of the liquor.
