Frozen pipes lead to discovery of diamond and sapphire ring

WILLOWBROOK, Ill., Jan. 13 (UPI) -- An Illinois couple working to clear their frozen pipes said they discovered a diamond and sapphire wedding band lost by their home's previous residents.

Tara Catogge and Ian Comes of Willowbrook said they discovered the ring trapped in their pipes while the plumbing system was undergoing repairs for problems brought about by freezing, WGN-TV, Chicago, reported Monday.

Catogge said she got in contact with the home's previous owners, Colorado residents Louise and Randy Hearne, and was told the ring had been lost for several years.

The former residents said they had assumed the ring was lost for good at a family gathering and they were overjoyed to hear it had been found.
