Jan. 7 (UPI) -- The polar vortex that is dropping temperatures across the nation has made things so cold in Fargo, N.D., that one man has actually taken to warming up by stepping into the dairy freezer at his job.

Kevin Stoick is the frozen food and dairy manager at an Osgood Hornbacher’s store where the temperature in the freezer is usually set at about -10 °F. Given that the temperature outside is about -40 °F with the wind chill, the freezer might actually feel downright warm.

“The only plus about working in the freezer is there’s no wind chill,” said Stoick, 57. “I enjoy it. I guess if I didn’t like it, I wouldn’t do it.”

Stoick is originally from Selby, S.D., another location not known for its balmy climate.

“Everybody says ‘Why’d you move to Fargo?’ I say, it wasn’t cold enough where I lived,” he said.

Randy Affield, a sanitation manager for nearby Moorhead, was not exactly filled with warm feelings after spending some time working outside on Monday. “It’s pathetically miserable outside,” he said.
