MOOROOPNA, Australia, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Police in Australia said a naked man playing hide-and-seek with his partner ended up stuck in a washing machine and was freed using olive oil.

First Constable Luke Ingram of the Mooroopna police in northern Victoria said the man was playing hide-and-seek with his partner and he climbed into a top-loading washer while nude, the Australian Broadcasting Corp. reported Monday.

Authorities were called when the man found he was unable to climb out of the machine and responders were able to free him in about 20 minutes using olive oil as a lubricant for his skin.

"I guess if he's going to get into a washing machine it's best if he has no clothes on to be able to get him out like that," Ingram said. "I guess the clothes can provide a bit of resistance to try to get him out. My advice would be for people not to climb into appliances. Obviously, that causes a number of issues as we've seen on the weekend."
