Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe INDIANAPOLIS, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Authorities in Indiana said they arrested a man accused of stealing jars of human brain tissue from a museum warehouse and selling them on eBay. Indianapolis police said a San Diego man who purchased six jars of human brain tissue for $600, plus $70 shipping, on the online auction site eBay contacted authorities when he noticed labels on the containers from the Indiana Medical History Museum and began to suspect the jars were stolen, the Indianapolis Star reported Thursday. Advertisement Police determined the jars had been stolen during multiple reported break-ins at the Indiana Medical History Museum's storage facility and traced them back to the eBay seller, who told officers he was selling the jars on behalf of David Charles of Indianapolis. Police had the seller contact Charles and they set up a sting Dec. 16 in the parking lot of a Daily Queen on the south side of Indianapolis. Charles, 21, who allegedly stole another 60 jars of human tissue from the storage facility the day before the sting, was arrested. A person accompanying Charles reached for a handgun during the arrest, but was tackled by officers. Advertisement The name of the person who reached for the gun was not released. Charles was charged with theft, marijuana possession and paraphernalia possession. Police said more charges are possible as the investigation continues. Mary Ellen Hennessey Nottage, the executive director of the museum, said the San Diego man returned the jars to the museum. She said she spoke to the man. "He just said he liked to collect odd things," she said.
