PETERSON AFB, Colo., Dec. 27 (UPI) -- NORAD's Santa-tracking program answered a record 117,371 phone calls and 9,606 emails from people looking for Santa Claus this year, it said Friday.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command's "NORAD Tracks Santa Program," begun in 1955 to answer questions about Santa's travels on Christmas Eve, saw a 3 percent increase in volume this year. The 23-hour project included volunteers and NORAD staff, and for the fourth year, first lady Michelle Obama, a NORAD statement said.
