Stories from Vancouver residents have been popping up on social media about a mysterious person disguised as a homeless man who has been giving out cash and checks to people who offer to help him, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Friday.
Yogi Omar said he offered to help a homeless-seeming man who asked for change on a street corner and he ended up talking to the man for a short time. The man eventually revealed he wasn't homeless at all.
"I'm like, 'What?'" Omar said.
The man told Omar he and his family participate in an annual random acts of kindness project during the holiday season and they seek to help people who are kind to the homeless. Omar said the man asked him what he paid for rent each month and gave him cash for the exact amount, $439.
Omar said the money came to him at a very opportune time, as he is planning a trip to China to visit his father, who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.
