VIGEVANO, Italy, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Authorities in Italy said they captured an alleged robber from Bulgaria thanks to his affinity for borek pastry puffs.

Police said Teodor Iliev Nikolov, 29, who was wanted in connection with multiple robberies in Bulgaria, was suspected of hiding out in Vigevano, a small town outside of Milan, where witnesses reported seeing him visiting a non-profit organization to receive help for his alcoholism, ANSA reported Wednesday.

The announcement Wednesday said investigators knew Nikolov had a taste for borek, a pastry puff popular in the Balkans, so police held a stake out at the town's only Balkan eatery.

Nikolov was arrested when he came in search of a tasty treat, police said.
