TORONTO, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, who has made international headlines with his crack smoking controversy, caused a stir when he attended a Buffalo Bills game.

Bills fan Matt Mays said he arrived a few minutes late to Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons at Toronto's Rogers Center and he was approached by a man in uniform when he neared his seat, Canada's National Post reported Monday.

"The poor usher guy was like, 'Dude, I don't really know what to tell you right now -- Mayor Rob Ford is in your seat, bro,'" Mays said. "It was kind of entertaining."

Mays said Ford occupied his seat for the entire first half of the game.

"I don't think it was intentional," Mays said. "But I mean, I just thought it was funny that out of 60,000 seats, he's in mine. I wasn't mad. I just thought it was funny."

Witnesses said guards were sent to the area where Ford was sitting when fans began lining up for pictures with the mayor, who rose to international infamy recently in a crack-smoking scandal.

Security guards and users cleared out the area around Ford until he vacated the seat prior to the second half. Ford's whereabouts during the second half of the game are unknown, the National Post said.

Bills running back Fred Jackson said he was honored Ford wore his jersey at the game.

"I mean, you always take the support, wherever it is," Jackson said. "And I appreciate him showing his support for me, wearing my jersey. With all the things going on, that still means a lot."
