Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Ex-NFL star Plaxico Burress is being sued by his New Jersey neighbors after his dog allegedly carried out a vicious attack.

Burress, who played wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets and New York Giants, has a mansion in Totowa, N.J., and the alleged attack happened near his home.

According to Burress’ neighbor Gina Stasinos, his pitbull inflicted serious and permanent injuries to her head, body and limbs after it got loose and attacked her. Her lawsuit is seeking unspecified damages.

Stasinos’ husband is also part of the suit. He claims the attack has caused him to lose out on the "services" and "companionship" of his wife.

The veteran receiver missed two years while serving a 20-month prison sentence for a 2008 gun incident in New York during which he shot himself in the leg. He is not currently on an NFL roster.
