British chancellor's family adopts dog

LONDON, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- British Chancellor George Osborne announced he gave in to demands from his children and added a dog named Lola to the family.

The chancellor of the Exchequer said he and his wife, Frances, picked the bichon frise to join them at their Downing Street residence with 12-year-old son Luke and 10-year-old daughter Liberty and he posted the first pictures of the canine to his Twitter page Sunday, the BBC reported Monday.

The chancellor said Lola is "cat friendly," which is good news for Freya, a cat obtained by the family in 2012.

Osborne said Lola has already made herself at home.

"Thanks for all the messages. Some early issues with toilet training ... but we don't care. We love her," he said.
