ST. JOHN'S, Newfoundland, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- Organizers of a Christmas "Mummer's Festival" in Canada said they are seeking bra donations, but they will not reveal the purpose of the undergarments.

Ryan Davis, coordinator of the 5th Annual Mummer's Festival in St. John's, Newfoundland, a festival based on English and Irish traditions that involve people dressing in disguises and visiting homes in their communities during the 12 days of Christmas, said the group needs "a hundred or more bras," but Davis and other organizers are keeping mum about what the purpose the bras will be serve, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Friday.

Davis, who said this year's festival will include costume workshops, history lectures and a Dec. 14 Mummer's Parade, said the bras are not for mere cross-dressing.

"I don't think anywhere in the world has done what we want to do with these bras," Davis said. "This is a very new thing for us."

Davis said the purpose of the bras will be made clear at the Mummer's Parade.
