Nov. 27, 2013 at 3:56 PM

BAD KREUZNACH, Germany, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Authorities in Germany said a woman hid in the trunk of her car for a day and a half after a minor crash to avoid being found driving while intoxicated.

Police said the 30-year-old woman admitted to police she had been under the influence of drugs and alcohol when she crashed her car into a wall Saturday in Bad Kreuznach, and she climbed into the trunk to avoid police while she sobered up, The Local.de reported Wednesday.

The woman, who had food and beverages within reaching distance in the vehicle, stayed inside the trunk for a day and a half while police had the seemingly abandoned car towed to a garage.

The woman was found when she emerged from the trunk and her driver's license was revoked by police.
