Samira Boudiba, a lawyer for the 40-year-old man, whose name was not reported, said tax collectors sent a bill to her client, who began a four-year prison sentence following his conviction in March on drug trafficking charges, Radio France Internationale reported Tuesday. Advertisement "How can you tax a business that is completely illegal?" Boudiba said. Boudiba said police seized $54,216 from the man's home and his property was seized to be put up for auction. Tax collectors said they deducted $2,710 from the man's tax bill for transport costs, as his suppliers were based in Belgium.
