Loose bull leads to late school dismissal

TRUMBULL, Conn., Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Police said the town of Trumbull, Conn., lived up to part of its name when a loose 500-pound bull kept students in a school after classes.

Investigators said they received a report around 11:36 a.m. Tuesday about an 8-month bull on the loose in Monroe after escaping from a farm in the town, WTNH-TV, New Haven, Conn., reported Wednesday.

The bull made its way to Trumbull, where it was spotted in the vicinity of the Tashua Elementary School around the time of the scheduled 3:15 p.m. dismissal. The students were kept until 4:05 p.m. to keep the bull from posing a safety issue to the children, police said.

Animal Control officers and police were able to shoot and kill the bull in a secluded, wooded area.
