Cameron: Couples will need to talk if they want Internet porn

LONDON, Nov. 18 (UPI) -- British Prime Minister David Cameron said cohabitating adults are "going to have to have a discussion" if they want to view Internet pornography.

Cameron brushed aside criticism of the announced mandatory porn filters, which require adults to contact their Internet providers if they want the parental control filter turned off, The Daily Telegraph reported Monday.

Critics said the policy would lead to problems for adults who want to view pornography without the knowledge of their spouse or partner, but Cameron said those who want to have pornography in their homes are "going to have to have a discussion" with their significant others.

Cameron said the intent is not to "lecture" adults about pornography, but rather to give parents an "opportunity take a more positive role" in controlling what their children view online.'

"All I am saying is that as a parent and as a politician, as a politician I think other parents would welcome the fact that when you sign up to an online account you get a prompt to think about whether you want an Internet in your house where your children can sometimes accidentally or on purpose search for pornographic images," the prime minister said.
