Nov. 13, 2013 at 5:05 PM

KANKHUDIA, India, Nov. 13 (UPI) -- Organizers of a volleyball tournament in an Indian village said the top two teams received well-fed goats so they could celebrate victory with a feast.

The organizing committee of the Kankhudia village volleyball tournament said the winning team from Sunday's final match of the weeklong event was awarded a 44-pound goat and the runner-up team was given a 33-pound goat, Gulf News reported Wednesday.

A committee representative said the teams were awarded with goats to "enable them to enjoy a feast of sumptuous mutton delicacies after the event."

"The tournament was a huge success and we succeeded in reviving sporting activities in the rural areas," said Mohammad Sayeed, husband of Purnia district board member Bibi Naima, who spearheaded the tournament's inception.
