Students say former APEC housing haunted by ghosts

VLADIVOSTOK, Russia, Nov. 13 (UPI) -- Students living in housing constructed for September's Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Russia say the buildings seem to be haunted.

The Far Eastern Federal University students, who took over the housing on Russky Island in Vladivostok after the meeting of world leaders in September, said ghosts have been spotted in their rooms and the restless spirits have been pounding on their walls and biting their feet, The Moscow Times reported Wednesday.

One student posted on the school's "Heard at FEFU" community on the VKontakte social network that he first started noticing objects moving around his dorm room after his first moved in mid-September and he suspected pranksters until he discovered "a tower of textbooks and notepads" mysteriously appeared in his room while he was out for a brief bathroom break.

The student said he also began seeing shadowy figures whispering in his room at night and one night he felt a sharp pain in his ankle and discovered a bite mark on his skin.

"I moved out the next day," the student said.

The student's report was followed by several similar reports from other students.

University officials said they were unaware of any ghosts present on the school's campus.
