Police: Man called 911 because neighbors wouldn't drink with him

FORT PIERCE, Fla., Nov. 13 (UPI) -- Police in Florida said a man arrested for misuse of 911 allegedly called the emergency number to complain his neighbors would not drink with him.

Fort Pierce Police said they were called to a home in the city around 8:35 p.m. Nov. 3 on a report of a domestic disturbance, and they arrived to find the man who made the call, James Collins, appearing intoxicated, TCPalm.com reported Wednesday.

"The complainant, James Collins, stated that his neighbors were being mean and would not drink with him," a report states. An officer "explained to James about misusing 911."

However, Collins, who police said was celebrating his 56th birthday on the day of the incident, called 911 again about 30 minutes later in regard to his neighbors "not drinking with him."

Collins was arrested on charges of disorderly intoxication and misuse of 911.
