Jim Sautner, who lives near Spruce Grove, Alberta, said Bailey Jr., named for his old bison pet, Bailey Sr., is a low-maintenance companion who eats hay and oats and takes care of his own coat, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Monday.
"All I do is I take an air hose from the garage and blow his coat off before we go in a parade or to a function of some sort," Sautner said.
Sautner said Bailey used to come into his old house to drink from the sink and watch TV. He said the bison, which he compared to a dog in terms of behavior, is not allowed inside his new house.
"He's my best friend." Sautner said. "He's my buffalo."
