NAPLES, Fla., Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Police in Florida said an alleged burglar was foiled when he attempted to enter a home through the chimney and got stuck inside.

Naples police say Richard Tyler Brandon, 25, got stuck just above the damper of the chimney Wednesday and was freed by Naples Fire-Rescue personnel using a rope and a fire truck ladder, The Fort Myers (Fla.) News-Press reported Friday.

"He probably didn't know much about chimneys because the damper prohibits anybody from getting in there," Battalion Chief Pete DiMaria said.

Brandon was arrested on two counts of burglary.

Derek Alan Grenfell, 26, a friend of Brandon's who alerted authorities to the situation, was arrested on a charge of being an accessory after the fact. He told police Brandon was attempting to burglarize the home and said he had seen his friend commit another burglary at an earlier time.
