BOSTON, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- A man who shares his name with Boston's mayor-elect said the mistaken congratulations he received included a call from Vice President Joe Biden.

Martin Walsh, a former aide to late Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., and current president of government relations firm Gateway Public Solutions, said Biden called his cellphone Tuesday night and gave him congratulations meant for the Marty Walsh who won Boston's mayoral race that night, the Boston Globe reported Thursday.

"You son of a gun, Marty!" Biden said. "You did it!"

Walsh said he thanked Biden, but explained that he had the wrong Marty Walsh.

Walsh said he also received voice mail messages from Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak, who serves as vice chairman of the Democratic National Committee, and U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., the chairwoman of the committee.

Walsh said his wife was amused by the attention he received.

"She was laughing," he said.

He said it's easy to get confused when it comes to people named Marty Walsh.

"We're a dime a dozen in Boston," he said. "I probably know eight Marty Walshes."
