KARLSTAD, Sweden, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Police in Sweden said an audience member at a Shakespeare-inspired theatrical farce reported a cast member for assault following a simulated purse-snatching.

The woman said she was attending "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare," a 90-minute farce based on the playwright's work that involves a heavy component of audience interaction, in Karlstad when an actor attempted to steal her purse while the strap was wrapped around her wrist, Swedish news agency TT reported Tuesday.

The woman complained to managers of the Scala Theatre that she had been injured in the course of an attempted purse snatching.

Police said the woman reported the incident as an assault and sought treatment for pain in her hand and shoulder at a local hospital.
