Swedish diplomat asks Chinese to help differentiate from Swiss

SHANGHAI, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- A Swedish diplomat in China is asking Chinese social media users to help come up with ways for Chinese people to differentiate between Sweden and Switzerland.

Swedish Consul General Victoria Li said people in China often confuse Sweden and Switzerland because their names are similar in the country's language, Swedish news agency TT/The Local.se reported Friday.

"You often encounter this," Li. "Sweden is 'Ruidian' and Switzerland is 'Ruishi'. The first symbol is the same."

Li said she is asking Chinese social media users to help her come up with humorous ways to help Chinese citizens tell the countries apart.

The winner of the contest, which ends Nov. 20, will be sent on trips to both countries -- with a requirement that they report back on their impressions of the destinations.
