OAKLAND, Calif., Oct. 29 (UPI) -- An Allegiant Air flight to Provo, Utah, was delayed leaving Oakland, Calif., for 11 hours after a series of glitches with three planes, officials say.

Company spokesman Brian Kidd said passengers were on board Flight 1032 for its scheduled 9:30 a.m. departure Monday, but the plane had to be towed back to the terminal because of problems with the nose gear steering, CBS News reported Tuesday.

A replacement plane was flown in that was scheduled to leave at 4 p.m. but it, too, developed mechanical problems.

A third plane arrived at at the airport at 6:40 p.m., Kidd said. Passengers boarded and the plane taxied to the runway. It returned to the terminal after the pilot said the plane needed more fuel.

Passengers departed, for real, at 8:48 p.m. The plane arrived in Provo at 10:22 p.m., Kidd said.

All the planes were Boeing MD83s.

During the delay, Allegiant said it offered passengers food and beverages, vouchers for $100 off and the option to cancel or reschedule at no cost.
