DURHAM, N.C., Oct. 29 (UPI) -- A single mother dining with her children at a Pizza Hut in North Carolina said her bill was picked up by a man who said he was impressed with her parenting.

The Raleigh woman said she was dining Friday at the Pizza Hut in Durham with her college-age child, who had to take the year off from school; her 4-year-old daughter, who she recently learned has bullying tendencies; and her 6-year-old son, who has been diagnosed with Asperger's and ADHD, WTVD-TV, Raleigh, reported Tuesday.

The woman said she apologized to a man in a nearby booth for the noise she was sure her family would be making before long, and the man told her not to worry because he had three children of his own and understood the situation.

The woman said the man left before her family finished eating, and the waitress came back and told her he had paid the bill for her family. The man also gave the waitress a Pizza Hut gift card and a note to give the woman.

"I do not know your back story, but I have had the privilege of watching you parent your children for the past 30 minutes. I have to say thank you for parenting your children in such a loving manner," the note read. "I have watched you teach your children about the importance of respect, education, proper manners, communication, self control and kindness all while being very patient. I will never cross your path again but am positive that you and your children have amazing futures. Keep up the good work and when it starts to get tough do not forget that others may be watching and will need the encouragement of seeing a good family being raised. God bless! Jake"
