HOLMEN, Wis., Oct. 28 (UPI) -- A Wisconsin sixth grader has been wearing his Green Bay Packers Aaron Rodgers jersey for nearly three years, and he is planning to wear it for a total four.

Dave Pehl of Holmen said his son, David, received the jersey as a Christmas gift a couple years ago and has since worn it for 1,034 consecutive days, WKBT-TV, La Crosse, reported Monday.

"I made the mistake of mentioning the boy that had worn the Brett Favre jersey just over four years and at that point he said, 'Hm, is there a record?' and I said, 'I don't know if there's a record for an Aaron Rodgers jersey,' so he said, 'Well, I'm going to try and break the record,'" Pehl said.

He said his son is the sole Packers fan in a family of Minnesota Vikings fans.

"Being a Viking family we tried to convert him, but once we knew he wasn't going to convert we said OK," the father said.

David's parents said they wash the jersey every alternative day, and it has faded so much since its first wearing that Rogers' name is no longer visible.

The parents said David's younger brother is only a couple of weeks into his own attempt to wear his Vikings jersey every day for four years.
