Ontario premier's podium misspells 'government'

Oct. 22, 2013 at 2:26 PM   |   Comments

TORONTO, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne's news conference to begin her "open government" transparency campaign was side-tracked by a spelling error.

Wynne, whose podium bore a sign reading "Open Goverment," was asked after her remarks at Ryerson University in Toronto if her campaign would "include spellchecking," the Toronto Star reported Tuesday.

Wynne seemed confused by the question until other reporters explained the error on the lectern in front of her.

"That is really not good," Wynne said, before asking an aide for a pen and writing in the missing "n."

"Thank you for catching the spelling mistake," said Wynne, a former education minister and school board trustee.
