Japanese company sells feline wine to pet owners

TOKYO, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- A Japanese company said a limited-run product marketed as wine for cats is made of Cabernet Sauvignon juice and catnip.

B&H Lifes, a pet food manufacturer, said the cat-oriented beverage, Nyan Nyan Nouveau, officially went on sale Tuesday and only 1,000 bottles of the concoction will be sold at a price of $4 per bottle, Japan Daily Press reported Wednesday.

The company, which also produces Wan Wan Beer for dogs, named the wine for Beaujolais Nouveau, a popular French brand of wine, and "nyan nyan," the Japanese translation of "meow."
