LONDON, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton got a parking ticket in London while she was being honored for her diplomatic work, officials said Tuesday.

A traffic warden ticketed the Mercedes over the protests of her security detail Friday, The Daily Telegraph reported. Clinton was not present because she was at Chatham House, the Royal Institute for International Affairs, receiving the Chatham House Prize.

The ticket could cost Clinton 80 pounds ($128), reduced to 40 pounds if she pays within two weeks.

Daniel Astaire, a member of the local council for Westminster, said the traffic warden acted responsibly.

"The former U.S. secretary of state was parked for nearly 45 minutes without paying," he said. "I'm sure she will understand that we have to be fair to everyone, regardless of their status on the world stage."

Astaire said that if Clinton returns to Westminster, she can download an app that will help her to find an available space in the district.

Of course, if Clinton is elected president in 2016, parking will be the least of her problems.
