Oct. 15, 2013 at 2:42 PM

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Oct. 15 (UPI) -- A Florida groom rode an elephant through the streets of St. Petersburg to make a grand entrance at his wedding.

Ajay Pallegar, 32, who was married Saturday at the Vinoy in St. Petersburg, traveled to the wedding atop an elephant while hundreds of wedding guests led the way with traditional Indian dances, the Tampa Bay Times reported Tuesday.

The elephant was decked out traditionally for Pallegar's wedding to Sneha Lokesh, 29.

A van accompanying the procession played music through loudspeakers while a live drummer provided accompaniment.
