TUSCALOOSA, Ala., Oct. 15 (UPI) -- An Alabama man said he was shocked to discover a 28-inch-long curly fry among the food he received from an Arby's restaurant.

Gary Young of Tuscaloosa said he went to the Arby's in Cottondale Oct. 4 and he returned home to discover the 28-inch curly fry in his bag, The Tuscaloosa (Ala.) News reported Tuesday.

"I was shocked," he said. "That's like the biggest fry I've ever seen. I thought it was a snake."

Young said he put the fry in a Ziploc bag in his refrigerator for safe keeping.

"I'm gonna try and contact the Guinness Book of World Records," he said.

The World Record Academy said the record is currently held by John Benbenek, who found a 34-inch French fry in his food at Taffy's Hot Dog Stand in Buffalo, N.Y.

"Well," Young said, "it's definitely the biggest one in Tuscaloosa, and that's all I really care about."
