MOSCOW, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- A Russian couple called for help with a reverse-Goldilocks situation after a bear broke into their home and ate a not-too-hot pot of borscht, police said.

The incident took place in the remote Siberian city of Ust-Ilimsk, RIA Novosti reported Saturday.

The couple had been sleeping in a sauna because their home is being renovated. They woke up in the middle of the night to several loud crashes and looked out the sauna window where they saw the bear on their enclosed porch eating the beet soup that had been left out to cool overnight.

The couple told police they sat in the sauna, helpless, while the bear made a mess of things. When officers arrived they fired gunshots in the air, scaring the furry beast back into the woods -- but not before he polished off the beet soup, a traditional Russian dish.
